MODELING AND PROJECTS: HEALTHY EATING, ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS AND PROPOSING A THEME

"This work presents a proposal of modeling activities designed and implemented in seventh-level course (12 years old). The include three phases: understanding modeling, itself, formulating projects. These phases are intended to facilitate the process. contextualized themes interest: healthy eating, awareness garbage produced, third phase, student proposals theme problem. emphasize development problems where mathematics emerge naturally from themes. aim study was understand difficulties potentialities implementing approached through qualitative research, collecting data students' productions, an interview with teacher. Grounded theory used analyze data, which categories emerged relating students’ teachers’ potentialities. Results indicate that, on one hand, allowed students visualize mathematical thus, support them; other working situations participate develop communication complementary skills. relate real-life situations, visualizing its importance identifying how it can be diverse contexts."
